In spite of the hysteria around the term "Estrogen dominance" that is directed towards making women afraid of their own estrogen, from my clinical work, too much estrogen does not occur frequently and it is mainly a result of not enough progesterone.
The signs of too much estrogen with normal progesterone levels are breast pain, nipple pain, water retention, and heavy bleeding. I absolutely do not believe in decreasing estrogen levels to the point where there is a sign of estrogen deficiency. The following supplements will decrease your estrogen level:
Red Wine Extract
This is a very unique extract of red wine with strong aromatization blocking activity.
I recommend 1-3 pills twice a day as needed. *
Indole 3 Carbinol
This is a unique cabbage extract that overall changes the balance of estrogen and strongly protects the breast from breast cancer.
This Comes as 400mg. I recommend 1-2 pills twice a day as needed.
Please note: those with sensitivity to cabbage my have increased flatulence with this product.*
Estrogen Support
This is a propriety blend of DIM (a metabolite of Indole 3 Carbinol), Curcumin, and a special herbal blend called Bioperine, all used to enhance its absorbtion.
I recommend 1-2 pills twice a day.
Please note: may cause flatulence. *
Calcium D-Glucarate
This prevents reabsorption of estrogen from the gastrointestinal tract.
Each pill contains 500mg. I recommend 1-2 pills twice a day. *
All the supplements above can cause a significant decreases in your available level of estrogen. Side effects of decreasing estrogen may be: depression, insomnia, hot flashes etc. In my practice I either decrease the level of supplements to a point where there is no symptom of estrogen deficiency or at the same time, I may add back, bio-identical estrogen to get you up to level.
